JAKOMO is a Brussels band that transformed their turbulent twenties into a sound that they christened “suave rock”.

The band originated in frontman Julien Tanghe’s bedroom, where he retreated with his major social anxieties to make music. He soon found his musical partner in Wout Vermijs (guitar), who also brought to life the visual aspect of the band. Match made in heaven! With Jef Ballon (bass) on board too, there were soon visits to the likes of Dour, Botanique and Ancienne Belgique. A well-deserved finals placing in Humo’s Rock Rally 2020 followed and they impressed with their debut EP ‘Fastbreak’.

With the release of their latest singles ‘Call Me Out’ and ‘Sexdroom’, JAKOMO is clearly making great strides without losing their playful Lo-Fi character. This is partly thanks to their collaboration with producer Michiel De Maeseneer (Balthazar, Sylvie Kreusch, Nordmann...). Their energies blended dynamically during a week in the studio and become an eclectic mix of catchy melodies, alternative hooks and groove rhythms.

JAKOMO’s debut album will be released in the spring of 2023 on On The Level and they are pleased to pair it with a release show in AB!
