Album release show 2nd record: Rosa
Ramkot is a musical wrecking ball from Ghent with a patent on potent, yet danceable rock that spares neither head nor hips. After two EPs and a win in De Nieuwe Lichting of 2021, early 2023 saw the release of debut album In Between Borderlines: a scathing 25 minute uppercut that targets the neck and leg muscles.
The associated tour took them through sweltering venues (AB, Depot, Trix), sun-drenched festival stages (Pinkpop, Down The Rabbit Hole) and even a support act spot for Metallica in Amsterdam. In barely a year, the tour counter clocked over 100 shows.
The trio Leyman-Leyman-Cuyvers did take on a producer for the second album, to be released at the end of this year. With Alain Johannes (Queens Of The Stone Age, Eagles Of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures), they spent three weeks at the legendary Rancho de la Luna studio, famous for The Desert Sessions of chief-Queen Josh Homme.
“We pull out all stops and the accelerator is not always flat-to-the-floor on this record, which gives the music more room to breathe. There will be softer songs too, that wouldn’t be the first thing audiences expect from us.” But rest assured: every note sounds like Ramkot at its best.
