20u30 - LORE BINON & WIM MAESEELE (b)
Earlier this year we caught our breath a bit when we saw Lore Binon at work during the Toots Sessions. On the World Wide Web, someone let slip: ‘The voice of top soprano Lore Binon cuts through the darkness.’ A sentence we will cherish from now on. The beautiful songs she performed – refined and vulnerable – turned out to be plucked from the intimate performance ‘Sluimer’ that Binon now brings (in part) to the Feeërieën.
Binon has previously worked with both the Flemish Opera and Rosas (see: ‘Drumming’ by Steve Reich) and is a welcome guest internationally. AND – there’s no such thing as coincidence – Lore left her mark on ‘LUCY’, the latest album by Dez Mona & B.O.X. Also THE reason to spotlight her – accompanied by lute player Wim Maeseele – a little more on this evening.

21u30 - DEZ MONA & B.O.X (BAROQUE ORCHESTRATION X): ‘LUCY’ – ALBUM RELEASE SHOW (b)
Let’s see it positively: the bright side of the pandemic gave us a handful of musical gems like ‘Carnage’ by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, ‘She Walks In Beauty’ by Marianne Faithfull and also: ‘LUCY’ by Dez Mona & B.O.X . We were already able to preview the album and, with its 20 (!) tracks, it turned out to be quite a piece of art. A piece of ethereal beauty. And we want to share that with you.
‘LUCY’ is the long-awaited sequel to the internationally acclaimed ballade-opera ‘SÁGA’ that came about after Dez Mona & B.O.X made a pact to fuse innovative pop music with baroque timbres. The right choice, as the progressive baroque company B.O.X has worked with Efterklang, Eefje de Visser, Spinvis and Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire) in the past.
‘LUCY’ is their new muse: neither man nor god, man nor woman, good nor evil. Using new music, true stories an mesmerizing voices, ‘LUCY’ goes in search of the meaning of returning home in a fragmented world. "LUCY, we promise you a warm homecoming at our Feeërieën! From then on your spirit may roam here forever."
