The Bony King Of Nowhere – the band based upon the angelic-voiced Bram Vanparys – has finished their second fine feat: ‘Eleonore’. ‘Eleonore’ – again produced by Koen Gisen (An Pierle) - is the successor to the much acclaimed debut ‘Alas My Love’ from ’09 and according to themselves it sounds “more direct, more in-your-face”. Anything more to add, Bram? “My only goal is authenticity: my work has to be genuine and credible. I feel increasingly attracted to the folk tradition, as it was documented in ‘American Folk Anthology’ by Harry Smith.” We can only agree. Bram Vanparys is a busy bee too. He's already half way through writing his third album and is currently working on the soundtrack for ‘Les Géants’, a film by Walloon film-maker Bouli Lanners. Finally, for those wondering, Bram Vanparys was indeed the guest vocalist on the hit ‘Come Home’ by Amatorski and the band-name is indeed derived from a Thom Yorke song: just check out the subtitle to the Radiohead song ‘There There’ from ‘Hail To The Thief’.
Support act will be instrumental trio balBaard, from Antwerp. Their untitled debut (with fine artwork) has you dreaming away with suggestive song titles like ‘Tinkerbal’, ‘Zaadbal’ and ‘Nachtevening’. ‘A shabby collective and hobby-muzak’ was what we read somewhere as explanation, we think rather of the moods created by Iceland's Múm. Performed convincingly in the AB previously, in ’07, as opener for The Notwist affiliates Tied & Tickled Trio.
