2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Peter and the Wolf
Poet Peter Holvoet-Hanssen has a richly filled shipyard full of poetic vessels. Duo WOLF (poet and guitarist Joris Vercammen and singer-actress Laura Verlinden) stepped on board too and brought an enchanting mix of poetry, music and images with them. This compositional whole, created especially for the festival, will carry you away to many wonderful worlds.
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Phillipa Yaa de Villiers presents a radio-book (a story rooted in the complex reality of South Africa)
Phillipa Yaa de Villiers is staying in Flanders for a month and wrote a radio-book for DeBuren. In her success story Original Skin she puts to rest her turbulent youth and mixed roots. Disowned by her white mother, she grew up in an orphanage, in a time marked by apartheid. South Africa specialist Walter Zinzen speaks with this author and performer who breaks taboos and speaks the unspeakable.
5:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Mira
On the 'Te Gek 3!?' CD, Mira dedicated a song to her uncle who, while in a serious depression, decided to leave this life: Crystal ball. For this deep, unclouded song she was inspired by none less than Sylvia Plath. Later Mira dug deeper into her poetic influences. The result is an exclusive programme, with Mira solo, poems, a piano and 'Stukken Van Mensen', her latest CD.
