A sticky mix of dadaism, punk, rap and chanson
Sad Banana will unveil their album The Journey Of The Sad Banana at AB. Expect a musical megalomaniacal malaise drenched in banana juice. A concert wrapped in a sticky mix of dadaism, punk, rap and chanson. SAD-DADA-PUNK-RAP. Sad!
Sad Banana attempts to view the world from a banana’s perspective. From inconsistent reflections, it tries to make an existential fruit salad in the form of music – with lyrics that sway between hyperbole and panic attack, vulnerability and kitsch, politics and pastiche. Sad!
Sad Banana cultivates that tristesse in lyrics, music and images. Their predilection for punk, rap and dadaism leads to a contemporary rendition of what it means to be an overripe banana in a hyper-capitalistic world. It makes them sad, but tears become beats if you know how to use them well. Sad!
Sad Banana switches between French, Dutch, and English – and between genres such as dadaist punk, edgy & juicy rap verses, and French chanson. During their show, they will make use of a DIY banana organ and a deconstructed drum. Sad!
If Tommy Cash, Jacques Brel, Hugo Ball, Björk and a fruit blender were to have a polyamorous pentagonal relationship and father a child, then it would be Sad Banana. :(
