House regular presents new album full of American Soul Music
‘A voice so wondrous and moving it makes everyone else's seem ordinary.’
(The Guardian)
Joan As Police Woman is still Brooklyn cop Joan Wasser, who previously worked with the likes of Antony (now: Anohni), Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed (with whom she appeared in AB in ’12) and David Sylvian. Her impassioned ‘American Soul Music’ – as she likes to describe her music – has been giving us pleasure for a decade now.
‘Let It Be You’ is being released exactly ten years after her debut. A collaboration with Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer Benjamin Lazar Davis, who we also know from collaborations with Okkervil River and Bridget Kearney (Lake Street Dive).
On the programme: new work, but also re-makes of a couple of Joan classics (including ‘The Classic’).
Welcome back Joan!
