Rockers from The Hague
Of course, the big question is always whether a band with the history of DI-RECT still needs an introduction. After 23 years, you can expect to have become acquainted with the rockers from The Hague in one way or another; a discography that is second to none and a track record in terms of shows that can only impress fans. With, as icing on the cake, one sold-out show after another including several Ahoy shows. To this they now add the insanely successful club tour to present their latest feat 'Sphinx'. Add to that the tours and shows at numerous festivals and events and you can't ignore DI-RECT.The special time of lockdowns has strengthened the bonds between them within DI-RECT if possible even more. Friends became family and the already boundless trust in each other is still growing. Resulting in new music. With even more musicality alongside the familiar input of Marcel Veenendaal, Spike van Zoest, Bas van Wageningen, Jamie Westland and Paul Jan Bakker. Thanks to, for instance, keyboard player Matteo Iannella, but also the now familiar horn section, which completes the musical picture.
That new music is appreciated. And indeed, that's an understatement. 'Soldier On' became a pillar in the band's recent repertoire and the stunning 'Wild Hearts' album went gold in no time, 'Through The Looking Glass' was the most played song on Dutch radio in 2022 and its follow-up '90's Kid' is also a musical hit. With these new assets in their pockets, it was a heady festival summer for DI-RECT. From Paaspop to Concert at SEA and from Parkpop to Zwarte Cross, every weekend was all-in for the band. And now it's the latest record 'Sphinx' - which was just released in March - greying out to the show!
