Faces on TV
Jasper Maekelberg, man on fire! Aside from the fact that just about the entire Belgian music scene is feasting upon his wonderful productions – Bazart, Tsar B, Marble Sounds, Warhola, Douglas Firs, Soldier’s Heart, Jef Neve, … – the multi-instrumentalist from Ghent is also scoring with his band Faces On TV. Trip-pop is what they call it, with a dark, adventurous sound that sits somewhere between Portishead, Balthazar, Gotye and Radiohead.
Their catchy single ‘Love/Dead’ has been heaped with praise like “Sad but Sexy” (Max ‘Oscar & The Wolf’ Colombie) and their latest issue ‘Traveling Blind’ even made it to HOTSHOT on our very own StuBru! The debut EP is also on its way in June via WasteMyRecords (Bed Rugs, Protection Patrol Pinkerton). A Belpop-classic in the making?
