'Back It Up'! You're sure to know that infectious single: already on every radio, all summer long, with that 'back to the middle, to the front, to the end' (or was it the other way around?). In any case, it was immediately clear how brilliant this brand new singer really sounded. But then Caro Emerald is also one of the swinging vocal revelations we're still lucky enough to encounter every now and then.
Or maybe you also enjoyed her visit to De Laatste Show with 'Back It Up'? Or that recent Martini campaign with the new single 'Night Like This'? All that finery is also to be found on her superbly produced debut CD 'Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor', here via Rough Trade, and in The Netherlands alone: worthy of the longest No.1 listing ever!
Caro is from The Netherlands too, apparently her name in full is Caroline Esmeralda van der Leeuw, but she sings wonderfully international and just retro enough. By the way, recently also extensive in De Morgen 4* (at 5?) and what's more: 'Nostalgia with something more... the music strikes one as frightfully fresh and sounds, above all, very much un-Dutch... once it's finished you instantly want to press the repeat button again...'
This classy act will soon fill the Heineken Music Hall two times over! You'd best be quick to order your gift for Sinterklaas: a Caro Emerald evening in the cosy ABFlex... before she also (and rightly so) breaks through in a big way here too!
Support act will be Sarah Ferri, with thanks to vi.be and the entourage of Caro Emerald. Rightly so too, as we hear a solid voice (with just enough vocal shenanigans), pleasant harmonies à la 'Swingle Andrew Sisters', tight band, flawless English and own songs that immediately sound international enough. Extremely enjoyable thus, and a must for those who also like Lady Linn or, of course, Caro Emerald.
