Consouling Sounds: Ghent’s superb underground label receives carte blanche
BRDCST is AB’s brand new indoor spring festival, one whereby we focus on musical limitlessness. The name is a direct reference to the retro futuristic electronica-pop of English band Broadcast, which released inspiring albums like ‘Haha Sound’ and ‘Noise Made By The People’ over the past decade. Artists who feel strongly about musical innovation will form the focal point for BRDCST.
Consouling Sounds was established in 2008 as a record company specifically for post-rock, doom and ambient music. Today, they have expanded their playing field to exciting music that defies all genres, without losing anything in quality or aesthetic.
For this first edition of Broadcast, Consouling Sounds received the request to put together a day-programme for Huis23. For the entire month of March, there will also be an expo in the AB Resto with artwork from Consouling Sounds.
Artists to play are:
Monnik
... is the perfectly suited name for this Belgian, experimental one-man band. Monnik wants to explore the borders of spiritual seclusion and transforms his musical drones into almost ascetic meditations. By building up sounds and textures layer by layer, he attempts to evoke an almost shamanistic – or even religious – vibe, in order to hold the audience in an introspective grasp.
