Stronger than the storm
In popular beliefs, storms are often associated with a force greater than Man—a furious outburst of the sky that, at first glance, seems impossible to resist. To protect himself from it, however, rapper Bekar chose a different path: facing his fears and pain in order to better weather the storm. Since his youth, this 25-year-old artist from Roubaix has been navigating between his passion for music and a life path marked by turbulence. Raised in a family with sometimes complex relationships but driven by a constant desire to prove his true worth, Bekar decided it was time to take a step forward. That step comes in the form of Plus fort que l’orage ("Stronger Than the Storm"), a debut album that tells the bittersweet story of the young rapper from Lille's 25-year journey.
“How can I tell them I’m suffocating here, with weak lines on my face.” In just one line from the album, Bekar sets the tone: after three promising projects between 2019 and 2022 during which he searched for the true meaning of his music, he has now decided to dive deep into his emotions. This new and more ambitious chapter did not come without challenges. After several months of tearing down and rebuilding ideas to shape his first full-length project, the northern rapper finally found his narrative thread: using imagery of nature, storms, and tempests to express his life experiences, pain, and victories—through a mix of confessions and metaphors tracing the journey of a complex yet sensitive young man.
The result: Plus fort que l’orage, a debut rap album that feels like a heartfelt testimony of the artist’s first quarter-century of life. Entirely composed alongside producer Lucci (known for work with Josman, Georgio, Ben PLG) as well as Wladimir Pariente, Myth Syzer, and Vincent David, Bekar's first full-length effort shows a clear evolution in both musical and lyrical ambition. More organic and instrumental, Bekar’s music now features pianos and guitars on many tracks for the first time, while staying true to rap. A perfect example is “Razorlight,” a track blending rap and singing where Bekar reflects on childhood memories from Northern France. The featured artists also reflect this balance: from the melodic softness of Myth Syzer on “Vide Sentimental,” to nostalgic collaborations with his Lille-based friends Konga, Sto, Sreen, and SIMA on “TNF,” and even his ambitious side with PLK on “Fisheye” or his vulnerability on “Effet mer” with rapper Zinée. Bekar ultimately opens his heart to better examine and heal it.
Stronger than the storm, but also braver in the face of his own pain, Bekar takes the risk of confronting his demons on his first album while embracing new sounds—without ever losing his identity. At the wheel of his own destiny and memories, the path he follows is both comforting and sometimes bitter, full of twists and hopes, yet always looking forward. Like a remedy to better face the lightning—for himself, and for those who listen.
