Jazz improv by two masters of the saxophone
Amalie Dahl is a Danish saxophone player, currently based in Oslo (Norway). She is known for her distinct sound and strong integrity both as an improviser and a composer. She ended her education at the Jazzdepartment at NTNU in Trondheim in 2021. The year after she released her first album as a bandleader, āDafnieā, on Sonic Transmissions Records, which has received excellent reviews. She is also playing with several other projects like SUPERSPREDER, Dahl/Dalen/SĆøvik, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and more. On September 1st 2023 her first solo record, āMemoriesā, was released on Sonic Transmissions Records.
Ā After years of experience with bebop, West Coast and modal jazz, the French alto and soprano saxophonist Ornella Noulet now focuses with great dedication and passion on free improvisation and sound research. She has been playing the saxophone since the age of seven, studied for more than twelve years at French conservatories and currently at the CRB in Brussels. Earlier this year, she came into the spotlight in duo with the Belgian drummer Ferdinand Lezaire, sharing the stage with artists such as Farida Amadou & Moor Mother in our AB and Han Bennink, Terrie Ex, Selvhenter, Ghosted, Angles and Mike Reed's Separatist Party at the 2023 Summer Bummer Festival.
