'Self Machine' , c'est le titre de l'irrĂ©sistible single de cette toute jeune et talentueuse chanteuse britannique. I Blame Coco est le nom quâelle a choisi de donner Ă son projet. Quant Ă la demoiselle, elle s'appelle, en rĂ©alitĂ©, Eliot Paulina Sumner, dite « Coco ». Elle a tout juste vingt ans et n'est autre que la fille de Sting. Sa musique nâa pourtant rien Ă voir avec celle de son illustre paternel : elle sonne plus jeune, plus folle, plus « monolithic, ethereal & robust ». Car pour ses dĂ©buts chez Universal avec l'album 'The Constant', Coco a essentiellement travaillĂ© avec la SuĂ©doise Robyn qui nous vaut ce son Ă©nergique avec une touche rĂ©tro, juste comme il faut.
Bien quâelle frĂ©quente Ian Brown, Pete Dougherty, Alex Turner et soit fan des Killers, Coco s'est aussi, de toute Ă©vidence, entichĂ©e d'icĂŽnes eighties comme Duran Duran et Psychedelic Furs. Sa mĂ©thode pour composer des tubes en puissance est pour le moins singuliĂšre. Elle planche apparemment, depuis ses 15 ans, sur les titres de ' The Constant' mais ne s'est dĂ©tournĂ©e, que rĂ©cemment, du reggae et des accents ska (l'influence de son pĂšre ?). L'intervention de Robyn n'y est, bien entendu, pas Ă©trangĂšre (on notera qu'il est d'ailleurs conseillĂ© d'Ă©crire I Blame Coco avec un « ° » sur le « a » de blame).
Tout va donc trÚs vite pour la belle Coco puisqu'on la retrouvera déjà fin novembre au club !
