Jusqu'en mars 2006, les Dead Souls évoluaient sur la scÚne musicale en reprenant uniquement du Joy Division. Erigé au rang de culte pour son excellente réincarnation du groupe mythique de Manchester, le quatuor a jugé préférable de se concentrer sur des compositions plus personnelles pour l'enregistrement de son premier album. On y entend encore l'écho post punk/new wave d'Ian Curtis et sa bande mais aussi des réminiscences de Editors, Jesus And Mary Chain et Sonic Youth. L'album s'intitule 'Cognac & Coffee' et frappe un grand coup : sacré disque de la semaine 'qui fait honneur à la réputation de Louvain en tant que Manchester s/ Dyle' par Focus Knack ou 'un disque dans l'air du temps, si on tient compte du succÚs croissant d'Interpol et autres Editors' selon RifRaf.
