Au fil des ans, l'ouest de Londres nous a donné un certain nombre de titans de la scÚne rap, de C Biz et K Koke à Nines et Knucks. Si certains d'entre eux sont plus actifs que d'autres aujourd'hui, il existe une nouvelle génération de talents qui poussent le rap vers de nouveaux territoires et établissent de nouvelles connexions entre les différentes tribus et sous-genres.
L'un des derniers nés de cette nouvelle vague est Bawo, un artiste émergent qui relie les points entre le grime, le garage, le rap et la soul (ainsi que quelques autres influences) d'une maniÚre qui semble à la fois nouvelle et fondamentalement ouest-londonienne. Il décrit son propre son comme étant « familial » et il y a en effet de la chaleur dans ce son.
Il y a six ans, Bawo a tĂ©lĂ©chargĂ© son premier morceau sur SoundCloud, un morceau boom-bap ultra 90's et ultra new-yorkais intitulĂ© « It Don't Stop ». Bien que son son ait Ă©normĂ©ment Ă©voluĂ© depuis ce premier morceau, le cĂŽtĂ© nostalgique est l'une des rares constantes de sa musique. Dans les annĂ©es qui ont suivi, il a jouĂ© avec des instrumentaux de producteurs inconnus, aux cĂŽtĂ©s de grands noms comme Wiley, The Streets et Preditah. Alors qu'il passe du grime au garage, puis au rap, son style percutant et imposant reste intact. Ce style distinctif se retrouve Ă©galement dans son dernier album « It Means Hope Where I'm From ». Sa musique est « familiale », mais elle n'est pas faite que pour ĂȘtre Ă©coutĂ©e Ă la maison. Venez donc Ă l'AB Club pour profiter de son spectacle dans un cadre intime.
