What’s going on inside the heads of generation Z and beyond? To find an answer to this question and to create and maintain a true connection with the young people of Brussels, AB is throwing open the doors to its lab for young talent
Youth l’AB is a chance for young people in Brussels to immerse themselves in AB’s inner workings and familiarise themselves with every facet of a cultural centre. With two fantastic Youth l’AB generations having paved the way, a third is now ready to go – and a very promising one at that! We’ve once again been recruiting engaged, multi-talented young people who feel deeply connected to music.
That’s how we found Myriam (23), Chloé (23), Elin (19), Lina (22), Fleur (15), Rayan (19), Julien (22), and Mika (20), a motley crew of passionate creatives. For a whole year, they will be given the time, space and support they need to develop and grow along the lines of their interests and vision for the future. Depending on what they’re aiming for, they could work with the promotion, programming, or production teams. They’ll be able to count on the support of the AB team, but also on the help of last year’s Youth l’AB graduates, Furio (23) and Asante (22).
This collaboration has already proven to be fruitful for everyone involved. Youth l’AB is a breath of fresh air that broadens AB’s horizons. We can’t wait to start our journey with this new crop of talent, who we are proud to introduce to you today:
Myriam (23)
“J’aime la musique depuis que je suis toute petite et c’est ce qui m’a donné envie de travailler dans l’événementiel musical. Youth l’AB c’est une opportunité incroyable de pouvoir en savoir plus sur les coulisses de cette industrie mais c’est aussi l’occasion de participer à un réel projet avec d’autres jeunes aussi passionnés que moi.”

"Ik ben super blij om dit jaar mijn avontuur als Youth l'ABber te verlengen. Ik kijk ernaar uit om met nieuwe jongeren te werken die dezelfde passie voor muziek hebben als ik en ik ben benieuwd naar de projecten en workshops van dit jaar!
Vorig jaar was een echt "character development arc" binnen AB en ik ben dankbaar dat ik dit jaar mijn kennis en skills dieper kan ontwikkelen."

“Hi! Ik ben Elin en ik doe mee aan Youth l’AB om omringd te zijn door mensen die elke avond aan muziek en muzikanten de kans willen geven om de beste versie zichzelf te zijn. Ik kijk ernaar uit om te leren van mensen die dezelfde passie delen en om met een enthousiaste groep aan nieuwe projecten te werken!”

“Ik droom er altijd van om te weten hoe alles achter de schermen van een concert gebeurt. Ik ben heel geïnteresseerd in muziek, vooral rock en metal. Ik speel ook bass en elektrische gitaar en mijn grote droom is om ooit te kunnen optreden. Ik vind het altijd leuk om nieuwe mensen te leren kennen en andere talen (beter) te leren spreken.”

“With my experience in Youthl’AB I hope to learn more about the production of concerts and appreciate the whole process more. From stage preparations to promotion and sound design! It’s a pleasure to work with like minded people and work on a subject that we all love: MUSIC (and AB of course 🤭).”

“I joined Youth l’AB to have an amazing learning experience together with a passionate group. As an event management student and a music lover, I am eager to learn the inner workings of Ancienne Belgique. I look forward to all the new discoveries Youth l’AB will offer me and to collaborate with the team on various projects.”

“I applied to Youth l’AB because I have always dreamed of working in the music industry since I was a child. I think music is what makes me the happiest.
My goals for this year are simply to connect with people as passionate as I am and enjoy the creative process together! I am sure that we will create beautiful things and participate in the elevation of the local scene, which is the most important thing to me!”
