We rounded off a tenth season of the ‘Coca-Cola Sessions’ this year. A concert series that has now made a name in the Belgian music world. Six times every season, AB goes in search of the future Belpop classics. Many of these will be appearing at our summer festivals this year.
TheColorGrey and Darrell Cole shared a stage in the Club, as the first of the six part series. The two Antwerp rappers, who are also a part of Niveau 4, have made inroads in the Brussels hip-hop scene. TheColorGrey demonstrated that with an excellent visit to a sold-out Botanique. You can see them at work this summer at the likes of Couleur Café, Fire Is Gold festival, Lokerse Feesten and Gent Jazz, where Darrell Cole is also to be found on the bill.
From hip-hop, we surfed further to the sweet pop of The Lighthouse. Tin Fingers also managed to charm the entire sold-out AB Club with their cheerful sound. The fivesome is to be seen this summer at the likes of Boomtown, Pukkelpop and in the OLT Rivierenhof.
In turn, and together with Mind Rays, the Brussellians from Mountain Bike set the club aflame one last time before taking a break.
‘dirk. en Fornet toonden zich de gitaarhelden van morgen’ wrote Indiestyle after their concert. Fornet’s wonderfully noisy, angular post-punk is soon to be heard in the Beursschouwburg, where they will appear on stage together with Shht and dirk. for the Voetbalfestivaldefootball. The latter will also appear at Pukkelpop and the Lokerse Feesten.
The Bonny & Clyde of garage punk, or The Glücks, are no longer newcomers. The duo from Ostend rocked the AB club and are planned for the likes of the Epop Festival this summer. Shht joins them on the line-up. Their tight and schizophrenic sound really sliced through the audience. We can take that literally too: to top it all off, a fan shaved her hair on stage.
Amery’s catchy single ‘I Need Lovin’ was picked up by Studio Brussel as hotshot and was noticed by Elton John. Together with Sam Renascent, he ensured a memorable visit with danceable R&B. Amery is to be seen this summer at the Crisis festival, Zeverrock and TRAX festival. Sam Renascent has the Dioniss festival and Genk On Stage in his calendar.
