In Brussels, one in three inhabitants is living with an income below the poverty line. The priceless experience of going to a concert and feeling connected with their surroundings isn’t something they can take for granted. We wanted to do something about that, which is why we launched the Solidarity Ticket in 2022.
A Solidarity Ticket is a free or discounted concert ticket for people who would otherwise be unable to afford such an experience. We call upon our concertgoers’ solidarity to build up our Solidarity Ticket fund. You can support the fund directly with a donation, add a contribution when ordering your ticket, or donate your cup money when you’re at AB.
Thanks to our audience’s generosity, we have handed out 3755 tickets at a social rate since 2022: 635 free Solidarity Tickets, 1735 Article 27 tickets, 1066 Paspartoe tickets, 122 Vrijuit tickets and 197 Uitpas tickets.
How does it work?
We’ve joined forces with about twenty Brussels-based organisations that work with people in poverty, people with limited opportunities, and newcomers to Belgium. They can request free Solidarity Tickets for any concert from our programme and distribute them directly to the people for whom they are intended.
- “I was a fallen bird… I couldn’t fly. By being able to participate in culture, I learned to fly again.” – anonymous testimony from Neighbourhood Partnership De Schakel.
- “I’m back among people, back in society. That makes me happy.” – anonymous testimony from Neighbourhood Partnership De Schakel.
Only with your help can we keep offering Solidarity Tickets. Give someone an unforgettable concert experience today.
A little solidarity goes a long way!
