Not your average music competition
Sound Track is not your average music competition: itâs much more than that. Those who sign up not only have the opportunity of winning a trophy, but also of tailor-made support from pretty much the entire Flemish and Brussels live sector. The Sound Track organisers are open to all genres: from hip-hop, afrobeat and R&B, via metal, indie rock, traditional music and folk, to ambient, electronica, jazz and punk. Band, singer-songwriter or MC, solo act or live producer with ambition: everything is possible as long as itâs live!Â
8 ambassadors advise on the selectionÂ
In each region, the club juries select 136 artists to prove their worth live during the 22 preliminary rounds. They wonât be alone, as they will again be assisted by the expertise of 8 ambassadors: Brent Vanneste (STAKE, Klakmatrak), Lefto Early Bird, Meskerem Mees (former winner), Dijf Sanders, Bryan MG, Lies Steppe (Klara), Anne-Sophie Ooghe (High Hi) and Steven Reynaert (Muziekcentrum Dranouter).Â
âOne message for those still considering signing up: just do it! The pathway that awaits is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for artists,â says Anne-Sophie Ooghe.Â
Those who are selected via the VI.BE platform will get to showcase their talent in the live rounds. The real competition starts in October, with 22 selection nights, spread around the music clubs and youth centres of Antwerp, Brussels, Limburg, Flemish Brabant and East and West Flanders. Out of the 136 artists who reach the selection stage, 46 will gain a place in the 6 regional finals. In addition, they will receive artistic coaching and a professional P.A. rehearsal in the run-up to their regional final.Â
A year of personal development both on and behind the scenes
Giving new talent a long-awaited and deserved opportunity to play is just one aspect of the overall Sound Track pathway. Each regional final, scheduled for 9 December in AB, Cactus, C-Mine, De Vooruit, Het Depot and Trix will result in 3 winners. The 18 final winners will follow an intensive âtrackâ. They will be given over a year of individual coaching with residences, opportunities to perform at home and abroad, P.A. rehearsals, coaching sessions, masterclasses, personal advice, studio recording sessions and so much more. Â
They can also expect exposure via a great many players in the wider Flemish and Brussels media who support the project: Studio Brussel, Knack, Dansende Beren and Luminous Dash. Spotify, Sabam For Culture and Playright are also backing the project, while Lotto presents the audience prize. Â
