AB Café will be putting its feet onto the pedals again next year. They will again be cycling in the 1000 km for Kom Op Tegen Kanker. And we are already thankful for all your generous donations!
But what happens afterwards with all the money raised?
Well, Kom Op Tegen Kanker works hard for a world without cancer. But there is medical-scientific research necessary for this dream. The organisation spends a large portion of its income on research. Almost 17 million euro went to patient-oriented research this year. That is about 7 million euro more than last year.
The amount will be spread across 33 projects, 23 doctoral research projects and 4 post-doctorates. The researchers receive between 21,000 and 990,000 euro for their project. The amount each research project receives depends on the number of researchers involved and the amount of time they will spend working on the project.
In last year’s edition, we collected about 78,000 euro via AB. A fine sum to support the ambition of Kom Op Tegen Kanker.
