AB and Pickx present ‘AB: Back to Live’: a three-part documentary series on the emotionally charged reopening of the iconic Brussels concert venue after a year and a half of musical lockdown, looking at its special connection with Brussels and its relentless efforts on behalf of rising talent, both local and international.
The Week of Belgian Music could not get any more Belgian. In December, Pickx+ viewers on Proximus TV could already enjoy the mini-series, but because AB and Proximus are celebrating their 5-year partnership, the 3 episodes are now available for free on Pickx.be and through the Pickx platforms (TV and app).
3 episodes
‘Back on Stage’, the first episode of the brand-new series, takes us behind the scenes of AB, offering a front-row view of what went on during the first post-lockdown concerts in September 2021.
In the second episode, ‘BXL Ma Belle’, we find out about AB’s influence in Brussels and its music scene, through the eyes of Belgian artists Zwangere Guy, Linca, Peet and Chibi Ichigo. We also follow hip-hop band Stikstof as they go straight from the rehearsal room to the AB stage following lockdown.
‘Big in Belgium’, the third and final episode, reveals how rising artists find a home at AB, with the support they need before they go on to conquer national and international stages. We follow upcoming talents Froukje and Onha and find out from both veteran and young AB employees why the organisation aims to be a springboard for new generations of talent. DJ duo Bicep and photographer Alex Vanhee demonstrate how diverse AB’s programming is.
