On the fifth floor of AB, they keep their fingers on the musical pulse. There are 5 of them, our programmers, and each has their own musical (and sometimes overlapping) tastes. Each week in this section, you will be presented with a top album and a playlist with the favourite tracks of the moment. This week: Mich's choice!
Mich takes care of the programming in the AB Salon. He mostly books experimental electronica, singer-songwriters and neo-classical music there. Aldous Harding, Daniel Norgren, Valerie June, Leyla McCalla, Damien Jurado, … played their first concerts in the Salon. Within the more experimental genre, the Salon has become an established name that has already been visited by most of the ‘big’ underground names. Most of the concerts in the AB Salon are free.
His favourite album at the moment is Immute (Georgia - Ekster, 2019). Listen HERE!
Georgia is New York duo Brian Close & Justin Tipp. They manage to entirely blur the border between acoustic instruments and electronic music with their improvisation based music. Robert Harris describes it perfectly: ‘These creative combinations akin to automatic writing, and painting. Unlocking a Surreality that lies within the real, but which cannot normally be perceived. Constructing curious Cubist / Futurist shapes. The sonic equivalent of Dali`s attempts to visualize Quantum Mechanics. Chemical reactions. Like opening the drawers of the Giraffe Venus. Ransacking The Anthropomorphic Cabinet.’
Mich’s musical taste is very varied. He listens to pop & folk, as well as noise & electronica.
