BROWNSWOOD PRESENTS: 'WE OUT HERE'
In May, AB serves up a heap of top English artists. We’ll start off with WE OUT HERE, a project by Brownswood records that maps the London jazz scene. In 2017, Gilles Peterson’s label made not only and album to offer a platform to the contemporary jazz scene but also a documentary. So be sure to stop by on May 8 and 9. The programme is looking fantastic.

GRIME MINI FESTIVAL
Many have been awaiting this, finally a grime mini-festival in Brussels! After an energetic Stormzy concert last year, now it’s time for a new draft of raw English rap.
AJ Tracey
The 23-year-old AJ Tracey is a spring chicken but has still already worked with Rick Ross, ASAP Rocky, etc. He’s never lost for words, regularly expressing his displeasure with British politics on Twitter. So he’s a perfect fit for the ‘The Sound of Protest’, a series of concerts in AB relating to the theme protest music.
Nadia Rose
The grime scene is largely male. Time for a change, thought Nadia Rose. She calls her music ‘magic’, a mix of dancehall, hip-hop and fun. Oh yeah, and she is also the cousin of a certain Stormzy.
Novelist
Still very young (21-years-old!), but already tipped as ‘artist to watch’ years ago, not only by BBC but also by none less than Skepta, JME and other grime bosses. He too has expressed his displeasure at the entire Brexit tale and is a supporter of Jeremy Corbyn.
Flohio
Dazed magazine describes her as ‘raw, punchy and poetic’ and according to The Guardian she is ‘one to watch’. She is brilliant live, as has been proven by her Colors show.
GRIME NIGHT: AJ TRACEY + NADIA ROSE + NOVELIST + FLOHIO - SU 13.05.18 – AB Club – BUY TICKETS
BIG FREEDIA
It is gay pride in Brussels on Saturday 19 May. You can round up your day (or start it?) in the Beursschouwburg with bounce music by Big Freedia. Also has an own bounce themed reality show, entitled ‘Big Freedia Bounces Back’.
