Liveurope has secured its fourth consecutive renewal of EU funding, with a new grant of €2.8 million allocated for the period from 2025 to 2028. A flagship initiative of the EU’s Creative Europe programme, Liveurope unites 24 iconic European music venues, including Ancienne Belgique.
A decade of impact
Launched in 2014 with EU funding, Liveurope empowers top music venues across the continent to showcase more emerging European talent on their stages. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the platform is considered a success story of the Creative Europe programme.
At the core of Liveurope is an impact-driven and innovative bonus mechanism, which allocates funding to member venues based on the number of emerging European acts they book. This model has led to a 63% increase in the number of non-national European artists programmed on average by Liveurope members compared to before they became a member.
Strengthening European cooperation and music diversity
With a €2.8 million grant secured for 2025–2028, Liveurope is set to reach a milestone of 8,000 supported concerts by the end of the grant period. From its beginnings with 13 venues, the platform has grown to 24 members across 24 countries and will continue to expand its network, ensuring more venues can receive financial support to enhance the European dimension of their programmes.
Liveurope’s new funding cycle will also focus on the priorities of sustainability and inclusivity. The platform will collect data to promote sustainable touring practices and encourage the use of greener transport options. Furthermore, as a Keychange pledge signatory, Liveurope will continue its commitment to gender balance, aiming for 50% of the acts supported to reflect gender balance by 2028.
