Pommelien Thijs, Recupel, and AB are teaming up for an exclusive concert and fun rewards, especially for fans who recycle their old mobile phones or smartphones. Our goal? Collect as many devices as possible and make a difference for the planet.
In just three hours, all concert tickets for Pommelien’s end-of-summer show were reserved. That means Pommelien’s fans are already recycling at least 6,000 old phones - an impressive number with real impact!
And there’s more good news! If you still spontaneously drop off at least 3 old phones at Pommelien’s merch pop-up, you can pick a fun goodie or try your luck to win one of the last duo tickets.
How does it work?
1. Gather at least 3 old phones
2. Drop them off at Pommelien’s merch pop-up at AB:
- Location: Steenstraat 25/27
- Opening hours: April 29 – May 8: 3 pm–8 pm, except April 29 (1 pm–8 pm) and May 3 (2 pm–6 pm)
3. For every 3 phones, pick a fun goodie like a t-shirt voucher, signed poster, or AB drink tokens (while supplies last) OR enter the contest for the final duo tickets (maximum two entries per person).
Why is it important to recycle phones?
A study by Recupel found that, in Flanders, over 1 million unused mobile phones and smartphones are gathering dust in drawers. These devices contain many reusable materials such as copper, nickel, lead, antimony, precious metals, glass, and plastic. Meanwhile, new resources are being mined, growing scarcer all the time - a nasty situation for the environment and the people working in the mines.
By recycling your old phones, you help to reduce the demand for new resources and contribute to a fairer, more sustainable world. Pommelien Thijs: “The production of our electronic devices has a major impact on people and the planet. That’s why using them responsibly and recycling as much as possible is important. During my series of concerts at AB from 29 April to 8 May, you’ll be able to hand in old phones. Recupel will then make sure that they’re sustainably and safely reused or recycled in Belgium.”
