What do The Weeknd, Kwabs and Banks all have in common? Sohn! The producer and writer released second solo album 'Rennen' in 2017 and received rave reviews for his dark electro-pop. He was already in high demand last year at the big festivals, but you’ll soon be able to see him at work in a more intimate setting.

HOUSE OF WATERS
It’s really difficult to label this band. A surprising combination of funk, jazz and soul? It might well be something for fans of Snarky Puppy (for whom they were support-act last year in AB)? Listen and judge for yourself.

TURKISH PSYCHEDELICA NIGHT FEAT. SELDA BAĞCAN
Selda Bağcan is 70 years old, no less, and in Turkey she is known for her politically laden lyrics. She was arrested many times and spent long periods in jail. The recent revival of Turkish psychedelica brings this folk hero to AB on 24 May, with names like Derya Yildirim and Boom Pam in her wake. Admittedly, a mini-festival of the genre.

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA
Does the band name have you thinking of a death metal band? Yet nothing could be further from the truth. The music of Unknown Mortal Orchestra can be best described as psychedelic sixties-rock, dunked in a sauce of excited indie-rock. This band from New Zealand appears in AB for the fourth time and is filling increasingly larger venues. They assailed the AB Club three years ago, this time you can admire them in the AB Ballroom on 28 May.

SUSHEELA RAMAN
London singer Susheela Raman will be launching her new album 'Ghost Ghamelan' on 17 October in the cosy AB Theater. She used typical Indonesian percussion for this eighth (!) album – a collaboration with husband Sam Mills, by the way. Despite influences of Western pop, rock and jazz – and a clear affinity with musicians like Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell – Raman presents her own genre. Impressive.
