The Université Populaire d’Anderlecht (UPA) organises Festival Populaire de BXL for the third time on 22 and 23 June, in coproduction with AB. The goal is simple: to show that Brussels is a dynamic city and to stop the “Brussels bashing” by offering a festival that is 100% popular, 100% participative and eco-responsible. This year Marie Daulne, singer with band Zap Mama, is the godmother of the festival. She produced a clip for the new version of “On y va” especially for the festival.

A CO-PRODUCTION WITH UPA
The Universiteit Populaire d’Anderlecht, in Kuregem, has worked together with AB for the third edition of the Festival Populaire de BXL. The opening night will be looked after by Orchestre Populaire de BXL. A transient concert, with the colours of the city and sixty or so amateur and professional artists, including Big Ben, Hussein Rassim, David Méndez Yépez … and many more.

ONE PEOPLE AND MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMMING
The previous edition received about 3000 festivalgoers, fifty productions and about 80 encounters between participants. This year, almost 300 people from the far reaches of Belgium have worked on the artistic productions. An opportunity to celebrate the diverse neighbourhoods of Brussels, such as Kuregem or the canal area, and to symbolically reclaim the public space. With a scenography designed by citizens and professionals, and made with recovered objects during participative workshops at the various locations, the audience will enter into an “absurd” world.
