On 12 May, during Europe Day, AB opens its doors, as it does every year, to exciting music scenes that are waiting to be discovered.
Both in AB's Main Hall and in the AB Club you will be able to see artists we think you absolutely should have seen for free.
Programme Main Hall
The revelation at BRDCST Festival was undoubtedly Avalanche Kaito. This trio residing in Brussels is currently racking up a string of press superlatives. Knack Focus: "We were blown away by this energetic Belgian post-punk/no wave trio, led by a griot from Burkina Faso."
Also on the programme: the haunting voice of Naima Joris with her catchy tribute to musical outsider Daniel Johnston.
Hear her reworkings of 'True Love Will Find You in The End' or 'Story Of An Artist' and become an instant fan (if you weren't already). This avant première is the tastemaker of an impressive upcoming EP with 7 Daniel Johnston reworkings that will be released before the summer.
Programme AB Club
Welcome to Da Club for a steamy evening of Turkish psych/punkfunk/hypnotic dub. This year the leading Swiss record label Les Disques Bongo Joe takes centre stage with the Turkish psychedelica meets electronica of LALALAR (the side project of Gaye Su Akyol's guitarist Ali Şimşek), the danceable punk funk of Baby's Berserk and the hypnotic dub of Société Étrange. It couldn't be more global with a label that just celebrated its 5th anniversary and catapulted Altin Gün into stardom earlier. Before, between and after: DJs from the Bongo Joe label who cannot stand still.
