This year too, AB takes part in the Big Brussel Helpt Spaghetti Campaign. On November 25, we unite our culinary AB hearts and attempt to serve you ‘the best vegetarian pasta sauce ever’. Fresh herbs and vegetables will be the flavour makers.

The proceeds will go to Brussels non-profit Straatverplegers. This organisation is dedicated to addressing the homeless problem in Brussels. Brussel Helpt wants to support the Straatverplegers (Street Nurses) by raising funds for the installation of housing modules.

Those with a roof over their heads are sometimes shocked how many people don’t have one. So too were two young nurses in 2005. Horrified by the number of homeless people in Brussels, they together decided to establish ‘Straatverplegers vzw’ and do something about the situation.

Over the years, the non-profit organisation developed a methodology centred around hygiene and health to connect with the most vulnerable homeless people. Since 2011, housing has also been an important aspect in the work of the socio-medical organisation. “For us, homelessness is not inevitable” says communications manager Koen Van den Broeck. “There are always solutions. Through our trajectory – which consists of several phases of follow-up – we try to help the most vulnerable among us to find a roof.”
