On Wednesday 29 November, Devendra Banhart presents his album 'Flying Wigs' at AB.
For many years now, Devendra Banhart has ventured onto the shores of mystical folk, unusual Americana and Latin American rock, always wavering between sentiment and absurdity. This eclecticism surely comes from his youth, which he spent partly in Venezuela and partly in Los Angeles.
Devendra Banhart takes us into ethereal soundscapes on his eleventh album ‘Flying Wig’. For this album, he once again worked with Cate Le Bon.

The press about Flying Wig:
- ‘De Venezolaanse neohippie Devendra Banhart (42), vroeger baanbreker van de ‘freak folk’-stijl, pakt na vier jaar uit met een heel toegankelijk, ongewoon album over relatiepijn, verlies en eenzaamheid.' – De Standaard
- ‘The Venezuelan singer-songwriter’s 11th album tackles grief and melancholia with the kind of endearing eccentricity only he can.’ – Pitchfork
- ‘Devendra Banhart: Flying Wig - A grand sonic tapestry. This record sounds unlike anything he has created before while retaining his trademark depth, warmth and grace.’ – The Irish Times
- ‘Lovely and haunting are two words which rarely feel comfortable together, and, in essence, they capture the overall sentiment of the record. Flying Wig is both spooky, worrying, and as stark as a cauldron but also as warm, intoxicating and noxious as the potion gurgling within it.’ – Far out Magazine
