Over the past 6 months, AB collected money for the non-profit Minor-Ndako (via cup deposits and freely chosen contributions). This organisation offers a happy home to children and young people who have fled their homeland alone.
Minor-Ndako offers them personalised shelter, guidance and support. This can range from inclusion in one of the living groups, support to a foster family, or assistance in living independently. Every youngster receives an approach appropriate to their needs.
Thanks to your generous support, Minor-Ndako is able to invest in several existing and new projects. David Lowyck tells us what is planned for the near future:
“Our Junior living group accommodates 10 young unaccompanied refugee minors. These are children under the age of 12 who have arrived alone in our country. The house that we have for them is homey and full of warmth. But the garden is one big mud pool due to the many hours of football that the youngsters play there. We would really like to give them their own football court so that they can enjoy matches on a synthetic surface in any sort of weather.
We have a fantastic music therapist in -house. Among other things, she gives music therapy in the Koala living group, but also in the Meza group (shelter for unaccompanied minor girls who were the victim of human trafficking). We want to further support to this work too by purchasing musical instruments and further furnishing the rooms where she gives therapy.
We assist more and more young refugees who are accommodated by a host family. We support these families and children with a starter kit that makes it possible to pay for school registration fees, the necessary clothing, the first medical expenses, a bus pass, a bicycle, … Supporting these families is incredibly important and this financial assistance is also indispensable.”
Another big THANK YOU VERY MUCH from Minor-Ndako for the support.
Meanwhile, our cyclists are again preparing for the 1000km to benefit Kom Op Tegen Kanker. For the coming 6 months, AB will be raising money for them. How you can make sure our riders are able to start, can be read here.
