After 18 months of ABnormality, the moment finally arrived last Sunday: AB opened its doors once again with Flavia Coelho and Chicos y Mendez. It was an ecstatic night, never to be forgotten.  

For Tom Bonte, it was his first normal concert since becoming director of AB in September 2020. ‘This is a very special night for us,’ he told the audience, ‘and you cannot believe how happy I am to see you. Thank you for being here this evening.’ 

The temperature in the venue easily went up by ten degrees or so when Chicos y Mendez stepped onto the stage. Flavia Coelho then played to an exuberant audience that carried on dancing long after the show had ended. One concertgoer summed it up perfectly: ‘It bring such immeasurable joy to all come together again, to relive these shared moments.’
