Belgian electro-pop mastermind nods to the dancefloor with âJewelsâ
Singer, songwriter and musical octopus Oliver Symons has revealed himself to be one of the countryâs biggest pop talents in recent years, with tentacles in Dutch-language phenomenon Bazart, Humoâs Rock Rally â14 laureate Warhola (the real surname of pop-art figure Andy Warhol) and as co-producer of indie-pop queen Tsar B.
Symons and company stepped it up a gear with Warholaâs debut EP âAuraâ (Pias) in â16, resulting in a sold-out AB Club & AB Box (âCool, zwoel, recht op doel!â **** De Morgen), an incredibly impressive Pukkelpop visit (âWarhola: het brein van de Belpop.â ***** De Standaard) and praise from around the world (âSoaring, propulsive, and atmospheric in equal measure.â Pigeons and Planes).
Symons continues in the same vein as the intense electro-soul vibe of EP âAuraâ on brand new single âJewelsâ but the beat clearly nods to the dancefloor! And golden boy Nicolas Karakatsanis (camera director Rundskop, The Drop, De Loft, âŚ) has again signed-off on the visual aspect.
