Hip funksters with nice retro-feeling!
They say that they’re a rhythm section that makes German pop music, but in reality they are the hippest funk act to currently conquer the world: Vulfpeck! The American quartet makes many references to sixties rhythm sections like Funk Brothers and Wrecking Crew, but seamlessly combines this with a modern feel to the band: hip outfits, memorable live shows and genius social media.
Exponent thereof was ‘Sleepify’, an album containing only silence, that they picked up no less than $20,000 for via Spotify and which resulted in a free tour of America. Since then, Vulfpeck has become a worldwide phenomenon. Singles like ‘1612’ and ‘Wait For The Moment’ have only increased the international hype. Their latest album ‘The Beautiful Game’ (October ’16, via their own Vulf Records) was (again) a hit: 10 raw funk tracks with a wonderful retro-feel, juicy bass lines and absurd, genius lyrics. It is clear: Vulfpeck will upend AB!
