Kraak, Futura Resistenza & AB present at Volta
This concert will be held at Volta (Osseghemstraat 53, Molenbeek), 15 minutes from AB by public transport.
HWYUIOD
HWYUIOD are Shelter (Alan Briand), Orion (Tom Val) and Thomas Riguelle. Their debut album – recorded over two afternoons in November 2023 at Studio 121 – was released on the Les Disques Omnison label. It consists of four long improvisations, influenced by krautrock, fourth world, postpunk and free jazz.
In the words of Maximilien (Oedipe Purple): "a timeless tableau that draws from noise, German rock, pioneering techno and more; a non-jazz from learned folk who forget everything to continue a purifying ritual... Far from the machine, to find some magic within arm’s reach again”.
Jeugdbrand
Jeugdbrand is the dramatic, playful improv-combo of Dennis Tyfus (piano, guitar) and Jeroen Stevens (percussion and other instruments). Their latest work, 3 x hullo, hullo (released by Futura Resistenza), is a collection of fragmented snapshots within which strange sentences and musical ideas clash.
It is a series of disjointed sketches, in which emotions shift rapidly and the ride is anything but smooth. Boomkat previously described the duo as " dramatic and eccentric... Tyfus is at his best here, gasping and moaning as if he were entirely isolated, while Steven’s random organ sounds over slow-moving, sustained drones".
"A bit chaotic and improvised but done with a sure hand of doom – it puts everything you listen to in perspective – not only if you are way too serious about yourself, but also what kind of contract you signed up for in an existential sense." – FELTHAT
