An evening focused upon the Buchla synth and EMS Synth
Todd Barton (VS)
American composer, (analogue) synthesizer player, sound designer and multi-media performer Todd Barton still dives deep into the continually expanding boundaries of his musical expression, even after more than 4 decades of exploration. Through his years of dedication to the Buchla synthesizer, he has become one of the most important ambassadors of Don Buchla's life work. Via YouTube and Instagram clips, participation in important internet fora and Skype conversations, he has become an institution in the Buchla community. Barton is continually experimenting with his musical output. He has worked in the past with the likes of Anthony Braxton, Zakir Hussain and William Stafford. He made music for theatre and film, composed work for the Kronos Quartet (amongst others), and in 1985 he made the legendary album âMusic and Poetry of The Keshâ with poet Ursula K. Le Guin (re-released in 2018 by To Spend).
