Even though The War on Drugs had best keep away from the American-Mexican border with a name like that, their music does nevertheless contain common elements with Calexico but equally with the enduring work of Springsteen. What's more, on their latest ‘Future Weather’ you can hear fragments of Dylan, his much praised successor 'The Tallest Man On Earth' , that is. Oh, yes, Dire Straits often camps nearby too. These are many of the influences thrown in the mixer by songwriter Adam Granduciel since his debut ‘Wagonwheel Blues’ from 2008. An extra dash of psychedelica and distorted organs finishes everything off nicely and also gives it all a good touch of My Bloody Valentine. Not to be missed.
