Dark-pop, hip-hop & electronica in the blender on ‘Wiped Out’
On October 30 2015, American dark-pop/indie-rock collective The Neighbourhood will be dropping second longplayer ‘Wiped Out’ as successor to their 2013 debut ‘I Love You’. Their moody indie-rock mixes with dark electronica & hip-hop beats. The five from California have already collected tens of millions of views on YouTube and ‘double-platinum’ single ‘Sweather Weather’ even dangled right at the top of Billboard’s alternative chart.
Unorthodox mixtape ‘#000000 & #FFFFFF’ (out since Nov ’14) – with appearances by crackers/rappers like Raury, Danny Brown, DeJ Loaf and French Montana – is witness to their boldness and a deeply rooted love of hip-hop & unintelligible mixtape titles. It won’t go unnoticed (that hip-hop bit) on the new album – about which the guys from The NBHD made the following clear: “We wanted to write an album that was going to be solid, that you listen to as a project and whether you pick it up the first day it comes out or 6 months after it comes out, it’s like ‘Whoa that’s a complete body”.
