Pure Americana, for those who also get a kick out of Violent Femmes, The Felice Brothers, Woven Hand, The Band... Call it 'grunge-grass' if you have to. Based on banjo (Scott Avett), guitar (Seth Avett) and upright bass (Bob Crawford), plus of course the intense harmonies that completely suit this country-folk genre (with a touch of violin or a piano line here and there...)
The Avett Brothers have apparently already been working on the refinement of their musical style for ten years, and as many releases. The result is now their latest CD 'I And Love And You', on the American label of illustrious Rick Rubin (here via Sony). After, in the past, having provided support acts to none less than those Violent Femmes, Dave Matthews, Wilco, My Morning Jacket... now high time for their very own ABClub show.
