Alternative pop from Melbourne
With influences ranging from Portishead and Massive Attack to Lana Del Rey and Mitski, Telenova creates a sonic landscape that is both familiar and refreshingly unique. The Time Is A Flower Tour, including a performance at AB Club Brussels on September 27th, marks a significant milestone for Telenova, as it represents their return to headline shows since their regional tour of Australia in 2023.
The distinctive universe of Telenova - shadowy, sample driven alt-pop with prominent trip-hop and electronica influence, plus a touch of playful energy - is the design of lead vocalist, songwriter and filmmaker Filipina-Australian Angeline Armstrong and multi-instrumentalists Edward Quinn and Joshua Moriarty. To support the release of âPowerâ & âTeardropâ and the announcement of debut album, âTime Is A Flowerâ, Telenova will embark on a headline international tour beginning in May, across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK, including an appearance at Athensâ biggest music festival âReleaseâ in June. Taking their distinct brand of cinematic alt-pop to the dancefloor, âPowerâ is sleek, evolved disco with a shadowy twist. Crafted with Grammy-nominated producer Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McRae, Odesza), âPowerâ follows previous single âTeardropâ - weaving themes of love, fear, and the pursuit of light into a lush, ornate track full of suspense and drive. Accolades in their home country of course followed, including the 2022 AIR Breakthrough Artist award, appearing on Triple Jâs Hottest 100, embarking on multiple sold-out tours and appearing on major festival lineups across Australia, building a dedicated audience and widespread praise. In 2023, Telenova played to over 15,000 people across Europe, headlining shows and supporting RUEL on his European tour.
