Between 2006 and 2016, Steve Hauschildt (Cleveland, Ohio), Marc McGuirre and John Elliott formed the legendary band Emeralds. Together with artists like Oneohtrix Point Never, Peaking Lights and LA Vampires, they were one of the forerunners of a new wave of experimental psychedelic electronica.
Since 2011, Steve Hauschildt has also been releasing albums under his own name (Kranky, Editions Mego). On these he creates soundcarpets interwoven with analogue synths, minimalistic techno and atmospheric ambient. His last album, Strands (Kranky, 2016), was laden with good reviews and confirmed Hauschildt to be a unique composer.

In the press: ‘Strands is one of Hauschildt's finest efforts, unfolding through a dense fog of ambience and gently bubbling electronics, always staying weird and disobedient enough to offset its new-age tinge.’ Uncut
