Three SWANA artists present new post-residency work
Organised by Tashattot and Globe Aroma in collaboration with Ancienne Belgique.
This concert is the culmination of the Sonic Sessions Residency and presents the work of three electronic musicians from the SWANA region, who are now based in Brussels. Through their collaboration, the trio created a unique sonic performance that merges diverse musical influences and experimental techniques.
The Sonic Sessions Residency is a two-month programme – organised by Tashattot Collective with the support of Globe Aroma and Ancienne Belgique – that provides artists with the room and resources to explore connections between music, identity and politics.
Through workshops, rehearsals and jam sessions, the musicians fuse their personal styles to form a performance that reflects both their roots and their innovative approach to sound.
Nazanin Yalda is an Iranian musician and composer who lives in Brussels. She combines classical and Iranian traditions, most notably with her duo Floèmee, and explores the interplay between sound and culture through Sétār, piano, vocals and electronics.
Joseph Jadam is a Lebanese musician living in Brussels who mixes Arabic traditional and pop music with dark genres such as psych rock, darkwave and industrial. With projects like Maltash and Araf, he creates moody soundscapes in which cultural roots merge with experimental undertones.
SAWT (Arabic for sound) is the alias of Palestinian, Brussels-based producer Kamel Badarneh. SAWT explores the intersection of techno, ambient and experimental music, thus harmoniously interweaving genres.
