"Shura sings for that soul-searing moment when hearts are not breaking, but broken." - PITCHFORK
“Soft, vaguely 70s/80s pop filtered through 90s R&B... Shura is the real deal.” – THE FADER
Aleksandra Lilah Yakunina-Denton, but just call her Shura, deals in dreamy soulful synth-pop and caused quite a stir in the digital YouTube pond with first single ‘Touch’ in 2014 (there’s quite a bit of kissing in the clip!). After that there was a spot on the longlist of BBC’s Sound Of 2015, a much enjoyed appearance at Jools Holland’s, and a successful collaboration with Mura Masa on hit single ‘Love For That’.
Her debut ‘Nothing’s Real’ is ready and waiting at Polydor (James Blake, Years & Years, Ellie Goulding), new single ‘What’s It Gonna Be’ is too, and the calendar for the summer is looking pretty well-filled… with shows in London’s Koko and at Primavera in Barcelona to kick it all off.
So this is a big fat hat-trick for the former Manchester City Girls player!
