Think: Nick Drake, Van Morrison, Bert Jansch and John Fahey
"‘Pimrose Green’ is een uit hart en nieren geknepen folkalbum van een rasmuzikant.’"
(Oor)
Chicago resident and folk-artist Ryley Walker impressed in to no time at all with his phenomenal fingerpicking technique – as could be heard on debut ‘All Kinds Of You’ (Tompkins Square) and last year’s release ‘Pimrose Green’. Nick Drake, Van Morrison (think: ‘Astral Weeks’), Bert Jansch and John Fahey are never far removed. So ’15 was also the year that he totally lived up to expectations as a contemporary folk artist. What’s more: he stands out from the competition by a mile.
Walker now has a soon to be released brand new album and if it is of the same standard as his cover of Dylan’s ‘4th Time Around’ (that recently appeared with monthly magazine Mojo) we will remain the instant fan we were from the start.
