Bela Lugosi's Dead! She's In Parties! Ziggy Stardust!
Peter Murphy (uk)
Bauhaus – established in ’78 – has been around for 35 years. Yes, you can feel it coming... that's certainly something worth celebrating. This gothic-rock/post-punk once called itself Bauhaus 1919 as a reference to the architectural style of that period that also inspired the design of their band logo.
Their debut single ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ from ’79 was an instant classic. Just like the singles that followed: ‘Dark Entries’ and the T-Rex derived ‘Telegram Sam’. Aside from infallible singles like ‘Passion Of Lovers’ and ‘She’s In Parties’, their reconstructed version of Bowie’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’ was the one to become their greatest hit.
Before splitting up in ’83, Bauhaus provided the world with four albums that are considered classics. MGMT even covered them recently and the fabulous Nine Inch Nails took them along on tour in ’06 too.
The band has had two reunions in the meantime (in ’98 and ’05) during which they dropped by the AB in ’06 and were brilliant live. In ’08 they recorded another album, thereby marking the beginning of the end of the band. This time enigmatic frontman Peter Murphy will be doing the honours and browsing 35 years of Bauhaus with a set full of classics!

Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat (be)
Support-act for the Peter Murphy concert planned on Monday 3 June will be Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat. This band encompassing Stef Heeren, with a name that once adorned the top ten of most absurd band names in The Wire, has been praised by press and public since the obscure beginning. Their characteristic mix of folk and drone has now undergone a minor transformation, amongst other things, with Heeren's purchase of a Roland Juno 6. The latest album ‘Weltuntergangsstimmung' almost feels danceable with its synths, drum computer and guitars!
