AB X FATSABBATS present “A Celebration of Pride”
In this heated climate, Our souls burn,
Choking our anger
How not to remain fragmented
Finding the strength to gather
around these dissonant realities
letting go of old dogmas,
Confront our fears and limits,
rediscover the power of Outrage,
In order to See other perspectives
To remain proud,
to catch our breath, to transcend,
To start anew, and persevere,
to Enable the necessary change
Two arms won't be enough. Neither will a single night, but let's at least create a moment of synergy together. Join FATSABBATS at AB on May 17 for an event packed with concerts, DJ sets, dancers, and a panel discussion on an OUTRAGEOUSLY compelling topic. Get ready for an evening with Moesha 13, Demi Yo'ko, Andy 4000, myst milano., JSPORT, Tshegue, a mesmerizing pole dance performance, and a deep dive into the issue of police brutality against marginalized communities.
MOESHA 13 (DJ)
MOESHA 13 is a multi-hyphenate artist from Marseilles, whose sound fuses club, techno, and afro under the concept they call “gadjicore”. An underground icon of the international club scene, they sing, mix, and produce, evolving between fiery rap lyrics and a dancefloor aesthetic crafted into an incandescent hybrid. Their musical work is marked by joy, research, and performance. They are an NTS resident and have played at the Nyege Nyege Festival, Berghain, City Cité Atlanta, and Mucem in Marseille.
Andy 4000 (DJ)
Armed with her charisma and eclecticism, Andy 4000 has been touring Paris clubs, the roads of France, and European capitals for a few years now. She is now one of those artists bridging the gap between underground clubs, Fashion Week aftershows, and festivals. Her only comfort zone: setting dance floors on fire, whether they consist of hip-hop lovers, festival-goers, or the general public. Every time the party is over, it's the same thing: the insurmountable desire to go back to her work and celebrate!
Demi Yo’Ko (Live)
An enchanting new universe, which Demi dubs “PSYCHEDELIC HORROR” or “WHIMSICAL TERROR”, is entrancing the minds of a world in decline. Within their sonic world, they boldly explore alternative, funk, post-punk, indie, and industrial elements while maintaining a pop-centric core. Distorted and glittered with psychedelia and euphoria, Demi is forging a multidisciplinary form of artistic expression centered around music. This captivating realm pairs mesmerizing visuals to accompany a “feel-good, feel-bad” soundscape and lyrics that delve into introspective horrors.
With multiple electrifying single releases following the success of their debut song “fEELIN’ aNxioUs” Demi has two projects on the 2024 horizon, an EP titled “SCREAMING FROM A ROOM THEY CAN’T SEE” in May and a debut LP titled “ A DEVIL’S PARADISE" at the end of the summer."
JSPORT (DJ)
Hailing from Atlanta, JSPORT stands as a pivotal figure in North America's Underground dance music landscape, initially drawn to the scene in 2012 by innovative sounds of blending R&B with avant-garde beats. JSPORT blends music that juxtaposes ethereal femininity with raw masculinity, making waves with performances at renowned events like Toronto's "Yes, Yes, Y’all", NYC’s "Dweller Festival'', and sharing stages with luminaries such as Teyana Taylor, Willow Smith, and FKA Twigs. Co-founder of Club Morph, a celebrated haven for QTPOC expression, JSPORT champions a musical ethos that defies traditional genre and gender norms, creating a unique blend of sound that resonates on dance floors across the globe. JSPORT's influence extends beyond the DJ booth. Their transition to music production during the 2020 lockdown led to the release of "Out of Bounds", a debut EP that encapsulates JSPORT's innovative approach and signals a forward-thinking direction in global dance music.
myst milano. (Live)
myst milano can’t be stopped. The Toronto-based rapper, DJ and producer spent years traversing underground nightlife, enamoured by the exploration of music, culture, and community offered everywhere from red-lit raves, to punk show mosh pits, to the glitz and pageantry of the Ballroom (vogue) scene. Their career as an artist has cemented Myst as a creative chameleon, a quality that has allowed them to share stages with the likes of Thundercat, Lizzo, Rico Nasty, Tinashe, and Kim Petras, just to name a few.
Some know Myst from partnering with online platform Club Quarantine to do advocacy and journalism work surrounding the George Floyd Uprising in 2020, a cause they remain passionate about. The years since have seen the multi-hyphenate's steady ascension: their debut album 'Shapeshyfter' received a nomination for the Polaris Music Prize; their single ‘No Shade’ was widely released on Defected Records; and tour dates across Europe and Canada, and Latin America, with more to come. The genre-defying rapper/DJ/producer has proven themselves time and time again as a force to be reckoned with.
Tshegue (Live)
To understand Tshegue, you don't need words. All you have to do is watch them on stage: observe how the group carries this fire, these vibrations, and this trance abandons itself to this ballet of rhythms and propels its transcended audience as far as it can, between Kinshasa, Paris, and Cuba.
Sung in Lingala, composed of percussion and produced with punk and rock influences, Tshegue's music reflects its hybrid character: a direct descendant of ancestral sounds, it is contemporary and documented, full of political, artistic, and personal questions. It doesn't reveal all its secrets straight away, but you can listen to it as you would watch a crowd dancing: you're bound to find yourself in it.
For those in need of a breather, we've set up a relaxation area on the first floor (in the AB Club). Additionally, a care team will be onsite to ensure a safer environment at AB. We have discounted rates available for this event: Paspartoe, Uitpas, or Artikel 27. Drop us an email (info@abconcerts.be) or swing by the reception for more information.
