‘Boyd’s polyrhythmic patterns sound like two drummers playing at once.’
Drummer/producer Moses Boyd is adored by none less than electronica pioneers like Four Tet and Floating Points. In jazz circles, he often turns up as drummer with the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith and the Cosmic Echoes or Zara McFarlane. Boyd says to be influenced by A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Kendrick Lamar. He points to four ‘jazz-fathers’ as his heroes: Duke Ellington, Sun Ra, Wayne Shorter and Max Roach. In AB he presents brand new work.
