Praga Khan headman Maurice Engelen is back... and how! Moreese.com is the title of his latest production and it is based upon the phenomenon of virtual communities. These social networks are starting to play a greater and greater role in our modern society. Who doesn't have a profile on Netlog or Facebook?
Engelen wants to span a bridge between the virtual and the real world with 'Moreese.com'; and actively involve his virtual friends in the creation of his new show. This will be made possible by use of an outside broadcast van, which will cross the Flemish landscape as of May, in search of creatively inspired fellows. Aside from the usual cast of dancers and performers, the audience will, more than ever, make an important artistic contribution.
Maurice Engelen is known worldwide as a performer who feels strongly about renewal and experiment. His compulsion to cross various art forms has already resulted in three successful theatre productions (including ‘The Next Dimension’, ‘Code Red’,…) that even led to the Flemish Opera. But Engelen is also known as someone who constantly wants to shift his, and his audience's, boundaries. That will be highlighted more than ever in this new production. He worked for more than a year on the preparations for this new extravaganza.
Moreese.com. Life is art, take part in the experience.
Support act for the theatre show MAURICE ENGELEN & FRIENDS: MOREESE.COM on Sunday 7 FEBRUARY will be 20-year-old singer-songwriter Tom Dice. Dice previously participated in the X-Factor talent search, in which he reached the final (an honourable second place). In May 2010 he will represent our country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo. It is as X-Factor jury-member that Maurice Engelen got to know Tom and took him under his wing. Earlier this year Tom Dice released a first single onto the market, a personal version of 'Bleeding Love' (originally by Leona Lewis). With that song, he scored a hit in the Ultratop. This fall Tom was nominated for the TMF Award ‘Best New Artist’.
