Pioneering electronica producer (see: Björk, Róisin Murphy) makes controversial concept album about the life cycle of a pig.
Controversy is on Matthew Herbertâs side. All being well, the pioneering electronica producer Matthew Herbert will release âOne Pigâ in October. Thatâs right: âall being wellâ. You see, there is an actual Facebook campaign aiming to suppress the release of the album and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has also condemned the album as âmaking âentertainmentâ from animal crueltyâ.
The facts: October sees the release of âOne Pigâ, the final part of Herbertâs âOneâ trilogy (the others were âOne Oneâ and âOne Clubâ), each part of which concerns a single theme. âOne Pigâ â which Herbert has been working on for three years â revolves around the life cycle of a pig (from its birth to the moment this intelligent animal arrives on your plate). Herbert has used samples to create an intriguing audio trip.
The live debut of âOne Pigâ took place in the prestigious Royal Opera House in London as part of the âJust Tell The Truthâ festival curated by the English film maker, Mike Figgis. During the live performance, Herbert invites âa local chefâ onto the stage. At AB this will be no different. Start guessing nowâŠ
